    Be a Superhero of literacy

    Book Ownership Improves Youth Literacy

We believe books can empower children to expand their knowledge and unlock their full potential to explore and grow!

Children who have books of their own are six times more likely to read above the level expected for their age (National Literary Trust).

Studies show that children behind in their reading by the third grade too frequently end up in the juvenile justice system and eventually in prison.

This happens disproportionately in under-resourced and disadvantaged BIPOC communities.

38% of children from under-resourced communities do not have books at home, compared to 15% of children from other communities (Annie E. Casey Foundation).

Book ownership improves children's vocabulary, comprehension, and writing skills (University of California Berkeley).

Sponsor a school in your community

Our Gift-A-Book campaign offers communities a special opportunity to gift books directly to students so they can begin building their home libraries.

Volunteers join the school for Reading Day to engage with students and deliver their books.

This interactive approach leaves a lasting impact on the student and the volunteer and helps the school achieve its literacy goals.

Every book gifted goes directly to a student and inspires reading through book ownership.
